Preamble

This is just a quick overview. I will extend it as soon as I will find time for it.

Actual Status

To reach the goal of having the 2.6 Kernel completet I want to first report the actual status of 2.6.21:

suspend/wake up

status: OK, but not well tested.

UCB1300 related stuff

• audio -> NO (but there is code from 2.4 which is OSS and does not work ;)) the new driver will be alsa
• touchscreen OK (allready mainline)
• switches OK (I will send a patch to rmk to get it into mainline)
• battery OK (uses the hh.org battery hwmon class)

S3 latch stuff

This latch is used to switch some GPIOs and the LEDs.

Status: OK (switched to sysfs)

MQ200 (Video)

Status: OK

There is a driver from zecke and the little bug is solved form mrdata. Many thx!

Later it would be great to have hardware acceleration.

This part is quite difficult - I think.

Smartcard support

Status: there is NO smartcard support but i have read about a old 2.4 driver

IRDA

Status:OK, but untested

USB-Client

Status: Unknown

Mods support

MMC/SD: OK

Bluetooth: OK

Next Steps

Hopefuly we can get all the parts done and get it into mainline. I will try to do as much as I can but my time and my C skills are limited. So any help is very welcome.

Getting the Source

SlackPAD Linux

Best way is the SlackPAD SVN at Sourceforge. There are allways the newest Kernel Patches available!

Openembedded

The Kernel with all its Patches is available in the dev branch from openembedded.

Because I have no rw rights it takes some time for the patches to get included. You can search for them at bugs.openembedded.org. But those are sometimes also not the latest ones. Use the SlackPAD SVN if you want the latest development status.

Angstrom

The Angsrom distribution will support the SIMpad if the 2.6 Kernel is complete :).

In the meantime you can use the angstrom-oabi distribution target to build it out of openembedded.

Or try out the new SIMpad testing images.
