Even on some bright daytime, some solar panel only receives all over four hours of direct daylight. That's when it performs at its maximum performance. Some panels make use of sun-tracking endures that is rotate to follow the light as it moves across the sky, but these endures are complex also prohibitively dear with household solar applications. From mounting reflectors around a solar panel, its optimal working period can be significantly extended.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need

Cardboard Aluminum foil Double-sided sticky tape Great mixing bowl

Suggest Edits

1 Place the solar panel with the center of a bit of cardboard that's three times seeing that wide being the panel.

2 Fold the sides about the cardboard upward, along the edges of the solar panel, segmenting the cardboard inside thirds. Put the solar panel to one part.

3 Shape single part of the cardboard all over a mixing bowl, creating some concave dish-wish shape. Repeat on the other side of the cardboard, keeping the middle 3rd flat. This need to create something of a Mickey Mouse-prefer form, with two dishes on either side of the flat center.

4 Location bits of double-sided sticky tape around the edge of the cardboard also across the middle. Press a sheet of aluminum foil, with the glossy side facing outward, inside the shaped bit of cardboard accordingly it adheres to the tape.

5 Fix the solar panel to the flat, central third of the cardboard using the sticky tape. If the panel has hers own mounting holes, poke holes through the cardboard in the relevant places also connect the panel securely to the reflector.

6 Situation the solar panel so it's angled on 45 degrees to the vertical, in some location where it will catch the most sun. Manually adjust the two reflective dishes so neither casts a shade on the solar panel as the sunlight moves across the sky, while keeping the external edges as excessive since possible.

Tips & Warnings

Use different size bowls to shape the cardboard, depending on the size of the solar panel you're building any reflector for. Make sure the reflector dishes are never large enough to cast a shadow on the solar panel, otherwise its efficiency will be reduced rather other than boosted.
